Brian Derksen – Board Chair

Brian is a professional accountant and partner in the firm Gislason Targownik Peters. Brian-DerksenHe has a CGA designation and graduated from Briercrest College with a Bachelor’s Degree.

He enjoys contributing to Gateway Resources by serving on the board of directors. One of his favourite events at Gateway is the annual Christmas concert performance by the clients of the organization.

Brian is married and has 4 very cute children – Zane, Paxer, Blaze and Azalea. Brian has been a Board Member since May 2007.


 

Marv Dyck – Vice-Chair

Marvin-DyckMarv is an Assistant Farm Manager with Kroeker Farms Limited and the Farm Manger with Poplar Grove Farm. Both farms are horticulture farms, the former a conventional farm and the latter, organic. Onions and Potatoes are the primary crops for both operations.

Marv has served on a number of boards in the past, and hopes these experiences will help him in serving the board at Gateway. He is excited about the level of commitment that the Gateway staff demonstrates in carrying out the Gateway mission, and is pleased with the direction Gateway Resources is taking in providing more services to our clients, and to our community. Marv has been a board member since November 2010.


 

Angela Plett – Secretary/Treasurer

Angela-PlettAngela is employed by Garden Valley School Division in the Operations department. She is the Transportation Supervisor and in charge of approximately 90 route and spare school bus drivers.

She also makes sure students eligible for transportation are assigned to a bus route. Special bus route arrangements are necessary for students with disabilities and Angela assists with requests from schools to accommodate transportation for these students.

Angela has been married for over 30 years and has two adult children. She enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She has been a Board Member since 2009.


 

Carissa Wall

Carissa-WallCarissa has been employed with Access Credit Union for over 10 years with experience in lending and human resources. She is currently the Manager of Centralized Services ensuring that the loan processing and member service centres operate smoothly.

She loves taking on new challenges and is currently enrolled in the Certificate in Management Program at the University of Manitoba. Carissa enjoys golfing in the Winkler Ladies League and spending time with her family and friends.

Denise EnnsDesnise-Enns

Denise has always admired the organization Gateway Resources and its values. She is passionate about the programs and services that Gateway offers. She is married and has lived in the Winkler area her entire life.

Denise delights in assisting and interacting with seniors at the Winkler Senior Centre where she is employed and volunteers.

She enjoys biking, walking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She has been a board member since May 2013.


 

Jake Derksenjake-derksen-web

Jake lives in Morden and has worked at Salem Home for 31 years. He is married and has 3 children and 3 grandchildren.

He is a member of the Morden Mennonite Church and enjoys hockey, bicycling, walking, camping and swimming.

Jake has been a Board Member for Gateway Resources for 4 years. Previous to that, he was a board member for Valley Rehab/ACL for many years.


 

Bronwen Budgenbronwen-budgen

Bronwen lives in Morden, MB and is mother to 9 children/young adults. Her eldest daughter Chelsey attends Gateway Resources during the week and is also part of their Supported Independent Living program.

Bronwen joined the Gateway Board in December 2014.


 

Rebekah Baerg

Rebekah is a teacher in the Garden Valley School Division. She has spent the last twelve years teachi001_3ng various grades, overseas and locally, and specializes in teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL).

When she is not involved in school activities, she enjoys gardening, walking, camping, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Rebekah is excited about the opportunities Gateway Resources provides for those in the community, including family members, and wants to help contribute in some way to the organization. She joined the Gateway Board in 2016.
