Recycling and COVID-19

April 2, 2020

May 5, 2020 –
Friends, family and caregivers of individuals who attend our day services:

We understand the frustration and the desire to return to Gateway. We miss all of you and look forward to your return and the structure and routine of our services. However your safety, the safety of our community, and the safety of families and friends is very important to us! We continue to follow the Government of Manitoba direction and, at this point, we are not able to offer our day services.

Remember to stay safe and healthy.

April 29, 2020 – As many of you heard the Province of Manitoba has announced the gradual and cautious reopening plan for Manitoba.  These changes will continue to be monitored and reviewed.  At this time we don’t believe there are any changes in the services we offer.  Please continue to watch social media sites and our website for most up-to date information.

April 1,2020, Dr. Brent Roussin, Chief Provincial Public Health Officer ordered all environmental services are essential under The Public Health Act (Section 67) Environmental Services. (44). A business engaged in waste collection or recycling, waste and sewage treatment and disposal, the operation of a landfill or hazardous waste disposal.

Gateway Resources is continuing curbside collection as per schedule and the depot remains open. If resident’s have travelled or present symptoms of COVID-19 it is recommended you do not drop off and or place your recycling on the curb for collection.

Gateway Resources staff manually sorts recycling. It is prohibited to include the following in your recycling such as used Kleenex, face masks and latex gloves. In order to ensure recycling sorting staff does not have to handle these materials directly, please only include acceptable items in your recycling container.

Also, please maintain a minimum social distance of two metres when interacting with recycling collectors and wait for the truck to depart before removing your bins from the curb.
